Hey! I'm Sydney Smith
I am a sports photographer based in southern Virginia with a background in sport management and marketing. I shoot men’s and women’s professional and collegiate sports, focusing on candid moments and real emotions—both the highs and the lows of competition. My goal is simple: to capture the moments athletes will always remember.
ABOUT ME
I am originally from Central New York and graduated from Cazenovia College in 2020. I have worked with various athletic programs photographing baseball, basketball, field hockey, football, lacrosse, sailing, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball, and more.
WHAT I DO
I have been the staff photographer for Christopher Newport University since 2022. I have been also a team photographer for the Norfolk Tides MiLB since 2021 and a club photographer for Lionsbridge Football Club since 2022.
ACHIEVEMENTS
I was recently a finalist for Canon's World Sports Photography Awards (2026),
have worked for the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament for several years as well as NIKE Girl's EYBL in 2025. I was one of MPB's Top 5 sports photographers in 2022 and have been featured in Sports Illustrated Magazine (2018).
